Okay so we know how Snapes loved Lily for like forever, so does anyone feel bad for him that he worked so hard to get the love of his life and just wham she leaves him for his worst enemy or do you feel he deserved it. I kinda want to say that i feel bad for Snape just casue i know what it feels like to be him in that situation. Any thoughts?

I feel he is an idiot. No blood, no foul, get up and get over it. Snape should have realized it wasn't going to work and gotten over Lily.

That isn't to say, i do not pity him. I believe he is noble to risk his life for who he loves, no matter how misplaced that love is.

Well thanks Becky! I feel kinda bad for him, he obviously had a whole lot of love for Lily, and eventough i adore Lily and James, Im very much the sanpe in my life with this guy I've loved for years. Sometimes I guess you just don't choose who you fall in love with and it just happens and you cant get out of it.

I agree. Snape couldn't just wake up one day and say, "I'm not going to love Lily anymore." It takes time. So yes, I pity him for his lost love, but I also pity him for the fact that he wasn't fully able to get his life back ob track after she left him.

I don't think you every get over that sometimes, like me, i've loved 2 boys in my life, and i can't seem to forget either of them

Yeah I reckon it's really sad that he obviously still loves her after all this time. And I guess it makes his dislike for Harry make even more sense; not only is Harry the son of the man who tormented him in school, Harry's also the son of who I would imagine is the only woman he ever loved.

All right, as a huge Snape fan... you have to consider his past, which we know little about. We have to assume he suffered emotional abuse at some level, what with the man we assume is his dad acting at LEAST emotionally abusive, if not physically. It is also made pretty obvious by Petunia's "it's that Snape boy" that he's not overly well-liked by the other children.

That said, he probably fell in love with her as soon as she was nice to him. I hate to put him in the characterization, but almost like a needy puppy. He probably decided he was going to marry her when he was 9 yrs. old. He could probably not imagine life without her. He NEEDED her...

...which is kind of sad, but at the same time, things happen. Should he have gotten over it? Yes. But who did he have to turn to? After the 'Worst Memory', he was all alone. Any 'friends' he had were bad influences, and probably not real friends. He definitely didn't deserve the pain it caused - no one DESERVES that unless they drown babies or something.

*gets off soapbox*
